I don't know if this has been asked before, but I am relocating with my two teen sons to Maui after the oldest one graduates next spring. We are soooooo excited to move. We're moving from Dallas and can't wait to feel the clean energy and see our first double rainbow! The thing I am wondering is before getting all "radical" and selling everything, what is expensive to replace and what should I go ahead and sell? I have two big TV's, two desktop PC's, a fully stocked kitchen (I love to cook from scratch), a complete home business setup, etc. I figured I should sell all the furniture..it's replaceable and antiques = mo money! But what about my old 92 Honda Accord? Take it or sell it? I know about the shipping it from CA and stuff. Just want to know your experience and suggestions. Thank you in advance for your help! Maui is expensive. I would bring your TV's, computers, Kitchen things and your car. There is a Walmart, KMart and Costco and several other stores including a several furniture stores. Since this is an Island, we pay a higher price for merchandise because of the shipping that is added onto the cost.

I'ld bring my best board shorts, some T-shirts and Aloha shirts, good pair of rubba slippahs, one sweater per person, sell all the other stuff. With all the garage sales here you can easily replace the computer, furniture, electronics etc in no time. I'm not sure what the ratio on Maui is at this point, but pretty much for every few new arrivals, there's going to be someone departing. Best of luck. Oh, and don't forget to bring plenty of kala, money, you'll probably freak out first time you go grocery shopping.

Thank you for the wonderful advice. I think maybe I have been too attached to my stuff to just sell it. My move isn't until next summer. By then I should be detached enough to sell it all and start over. Good sound advice!
