Considering staying at the Palms for 6 weeks and wondering what the best way to access Keawakapu beach. Go down Okolani Drive and hang a left at S. Kihei rd?
Cut across Okolani and through Wailea Ekahi?

Is there access to the beach from the intersection of Okolani and S. Kihei Rd?

Any estimates walking times using the Palms admin office as a starting point?

I would recommend using the old reliable wawae.... hoof it.. maybe 5-10 minutes down to keawekapu. there is public parking at the bottom of kilohana, and public access to the beach just across the street from there. Kind of funny, I paddle down to Pu'u olai every once in a while, long ass paddle on a surfski from Kamaole 1.

aloha

Okolani is a short walk on the map, but its somewhat of a steep hill to go up after you've been to the beach all day. The two beach access around that area is where Jungjohann mentioned at the bottom of Kilohana (known as 'sidewalks'). And the other is where you mentioned, go down Okolani to hang a left. At the end of the road is the beach access parking.

I don't know about going through Wailea Ekahi, you'd have to ask some of people who've been guests. I live in Maui Meadows up the hill on Kilohana, and never considered going through there since wailea security can be a pest sometimes.

Ye, don't try walking up that hill after a tough, exhausting, debilitating day at the beach. After all, you can only handle so much stress. Those beach days can really take it out of a guy.. Hire a cab, take the bus, steal a car...... Only joking.. If you go down to the beach with a cooler, and you're a beach pro, the thing should be a hell of a lot lighter on the trip back up. If not, you need MORE practice... Patience, just pace yourself..

Aloha

we lived at the palms for a short while, my husband runs and said the hardest part of his run was going back up the hill. it isn't a steep hill but it is a long slow climb. if you are in shape and don't mind it wouldn't be so bad but not a hill you would want to do more then once otherwise. I always took the car.

Thank you for the information. While the grounds and size of condos at the Palms are appealing, your responses certainly have not eased my concerns about walking access to the beach.

Even with the cannibals running around? Or do they try to fit in with the population and drive luxury cars through Wailea?
