I will be staying in Maui for 13 days. My girlfriend and I were to vacation in Maui, but she had to cancel due to an accident. Now, I will be traveling alone. Is there any place a single girl can go to find entertainment without feeling out of place with all couples. I love to hike Hana, go diving, whale watching, boogie boarding, etc and it's always fun to do it with someone. I would enjoy having a dinner companion, travel, etc. Any suggestions will be helpful.

You could try Craigslist in the "community" area and group area. There are announcements for club meeting and assorted different groups meeting, like a group getting together to hike, or play tennis, or take dance lessons.

It wouldn't give you a constant companion, but maybe you could find a group to hike with.

As for meals, take a book.

If you've got enough money you can sign up for guided day excursions.

Yes go with guided tours, do not hike alone. Be careful.

You might enjoy volunteering for the Whale Foundation. You can donate about 3 hours of your time (more if you want) and participate in plenty of different types of projects around the city. This would be a great way to give back to the community and meet some interesting locals, as well. They publish a full monthly calendar of opportunities.

I also think that, in general, Kihei, Lahaina and Paia are the 3 best places for hanging out. Plenty of cafes and bars that seem (relatively) safe to me and people are very friendly. Also, a friend of mine recently took some 'beginner' surfing lessons. She had an incredible time and met some interesting people.
