Planning a 5-day trip girls getaway. Prefer a resort on beach and not family-oriented/honeymoon. Any suggestions on hotel/resort? Will probably spend most time at hotel beach/pool with a couple of days doing driving trips.

Maui -- resortwise -- is kind of divided into two major zones: Kihei/Wailea/Makena in South Maui and Lahaina/Kaanapali/Kapalua in West Maui.

In South Maui, I'd recommend: Fairmont Kea Lani (has villas!), Four Seasons and Grand Wailea for all-round "resort-iness," with comfortable walking access to food, shopping, etc. along a beachwalk.

In West Maui, if you want that same kind of feel, almost anywhere in Kaanapali, which has Hyatt, Marriott, Westin, Sheraton, and some condos. Great beaches and most hotels have spas.

Lahaina is an old whaler's town, so it's more of a hamlet than a resort and the beaches are rather limited there. (Fun day trip, though. And good restaurants.) The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua is an outstanding resort about 7 miles farther north -- if you're looking for a more secluded type resort with excellent beaches and spa. (Just renovated last year.)

You didn't mention your budget, but there are deals all around right now. You also didn't say when you're coming, but all of Maui has more families and honeymooners in the summer.

Feel free to DM me if you have specific questions.

E komo mai!

When I visited there I stayed at the Four Seasons and it was outstanding.

Too late, you've missed all the hula boys dancing in the Merrie Monarch. Whoohoo! But that was in Hilo anyway.
