STACEY WIEDOWER | Special to The Daily News

The South Main Historic Arts District could be viewed as a microcosm of all of Downtown. In decades past, it experienced a heyday and a dramatic decline. In recent years, it’s made a slow but thorough comeback.

The South Main Historic Arts District has its share of art, but now the district is evolving into a more complete neighborhood with boutiques and restaurants.

Part of the charm of the South Main Historic Arts District is the storefronts filled with everything from art to clothing to coffee.

I loved living in the South Main area. It was so easy to walk to anywhere downtown and the Farmer's Market was just down the street from me. Hopefully, it will continue to grow and thrive!

I think all it needs is one or two taller buildings (not necessarily skyscrapers) to break up the monotony, and contribute some diversity architecturally to the area. Some of the apartment buildings especially in the infill by the lofts and South Bluffs look cheap. And they're then next to some buildings that look structurally nice. The cheap-nice proximity is not what I mean by diversity, btw, lol.

There are others on this forum that have also posted on other forums. Same dribble....different sights and timeframes. There are plenty of extreme viewpoints that get posted here from both sides.

Ms. Wiedower wrote an article in a local rag. She probably got paid for her work. It was posted by someone else. OK. So what?

I read the article and enjoyed it. If there was nothing in the article that was blatantly false then again....so what?

It is a good article and I am glad it was posted. A post with supported opposing viewpoints about the subject of the article would seem more appropriate than posting negative comments about the author....who seems to be only doing her "job".

Maybe there is a personal "beef" between some posters.....
