Need suggestions:

I need a place in the next two weeks or so. With in 20 min of Airport

Suggestions for:
Extend stay weekly hotel (clean safe must, temp for a week or so)

Suggestions for:
Area to look at for more permanent residence.

Suggestions for:
Storage unit (I have a lot of stuff that is not going in an apartment)

Suggestions for:
Renting a house or room (with private bath, mini kitchen)

Suggestions for:
Apartments, cost... garage nice.

I am moving a three bed room house but I am solo. However I have a bunch of shop gear.
I will probably buy a house at some point but for the time being plan A is get a storage unit
and live in an Apartment.

Thanks

PS
What about living in Arkansas or Mississippi.... as far as cost of living.

I understand Memphis is dangerous statistically, obviously I want to be out of those areas.
I have been told to stay OUTSIDE the Beltway.

Totally do not agree to 'stay outside the beltway' (by that I take it people told you to not live within the interstate loop).

But if you must, anything in Bartlett, Cordova, Germantown, Collierville are good. but far from the airport. Southaven or Olive Branch in MSS would be closer.

Yes I meant the LOOP... what parts INSIDE the loop, closer to airport would be good? I am not against being in the LOOP.... I was just given this generic advice... WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST!

Besides it might be temp living for 3, 6 or 12 months before something more permanent. There is no need to make a long commute... My STUFF will be in storage anyway.

I guess parts of down town are being revitalized, with lofts in old buildings and so on. I just don't want to be murdered or robbed... no offense the stats for Memphis (proper and area) are not great. I have worked or lived in NY, New Orleans, Oakland area... There are always bad areas and relatively low crime areas.

THANKS I will look in those areas. Germantown looks closer and Bartlett and Cordova far from airport, more than 20 min or more? Collierville is too far.

"Southhaven and Olive Branch in MSS"... I will check it out. They care closer, especially Olive Branch. I noticed there is no state tax in TN. The list of cheapest places to live TN and MS were on the list.

There are many neighborhoods all over the city (inside the loop) that are great. Downtown. Midtown. East Memphis. It would be impossible to name everything. The best advice is always to come look for yourself. Seeing Memphis in person and driving around makes a world of difference.

I have no clue about storage units, there are some all over town so I'm sure you could find a cheap one anywhere.

Thanks that is what I will do.... I'll stop by your place for a beer...

I start on the 17th... the plan is drive out with a small Uhaul, with the basic stuff, leave my house in Raleigh with most of my stuff. Do the hotel the first week, find a place. Then at some point fly back out and coordinate with the movers.... so I can move direct into the final or at least intermediate domicile. MOVING IS FUN!

Thanks for all your help.

Yeah, that's completely ridiculous. Some of the most expensive and desirable neighborhoods in Memphis are inside the loop, as well as some nice and affordable ones. Likewise, Hickory Hill, Whitehaven, Frayser, Raleigh are outside the loop and they're pretty rough.

Could you give me some neighborhood down names inside the loop or pretty much what was said above, by Pearlbob?

Anywhere within about a mile of Poplar Avenue between Highland St. in the west and 240 on the east.

Anywhere between Cleveland St. on the west, East Pkwy on the east, North Pkwy on the north, and Central Ave. on the south.
