My a/c went out. At first it shut off and we noticed the filter was dirty. Then after replacing the filter it will come on, the outside fan will come on as well, and inside the furnace it seems to get cold when we touch it, but there is no air at all blowing through any of the vents in the home.

I am so scared of what it might be. My home warranty is somewhat new which is why I am afraid they won't cover it. It is with Total Home Protect.

Normally I would call a HVAC person but honestly I am afraid to deal with those guys because I have heard so many lie and try to scam you.

Anyone knows a good HVAC person? A cheap person? Maybe a guy at a local apartment complex who works there during the day and who would like some extra cash?

Please advise...

Sounds like you are low on freon which could mean leak somewhere in the system. Chances are what you hear is just the fan running outside and not the compressor. If you have a home owner warranty, it should cover the A/C with just your co-pay. How do I know this? My freakin' a/C downstairs has gone out once a year since we moved here. American Home Shield is who we use and they nickel and dime you to death instead of replacing the unit. Each year they added freon until finally they located a leak in the compressor and replaced it. That was last year. Now they have determined our coil is leaking so, as I type, we have no air downstairs. Even though it's a long process, we will have it all repaired this week.

Give your provider a call.

If your furnace is cold then you're still good with the freon. If there are no air coming out of any of the vents then it's likely that your blower motor blew out. It's around $150 to fix.

Around $150 to buy a new motor I mean. Not sure how much labor would be. But I know someone that does it on the side for a good price. I will give you # tonight.
