I was considering taking DF there for Valentine's Day, but wanted to know if it was any good etc.

If you are going downtown, best go to Circa on Main. Get their Filet and have them throw a few shrimp or scallops on the top. A good bottle of wine, and the chocolate souffle for desert, what more could one want on Valentines Day. More Romantic than the Butcher Shop.

For a romantic dinner, I would have to agree with Chuck!

Were you talking about the Butcher Shop downtown, or the one in Cordova? If you wanted to stay out east, there are good options out there (Erling Jensen's for one...)

They have a website with their menu, might want to search for it (I think they do...)

He's a well known Memphis chef with his own restaurant. Just...fancy food Not sure if it's a certain fare. Also Jarrett's on Quince is a nice place, with the famous (Richard?) Farmer chef. Of course, that's not Cordova, but they are both probably 2 of top 3 famous chefs in town (Grisanti being the other, or maybe Jimmy Ishi for Japanese food). I love Ishi's restaurants but they are not in the same class as Erling Jensen's or Jarrett's.

There's a ton of great "fancy" places downtown with good food. (as in, good food for Valentine's Day, a more upscale night out). I'd get reservations soon though, no matter where you go. That night fills up fast. A lot of restaurants will have a set menu that night, for a set price.

I would get reservations a.s.a.p. Restaurants in Memphis fill up amazingly quickly for Valentine's Day. (One of bob's many "pearls")
