Collierville Wastewater Plant (to rent, daycare, houses)

I'm looking into renting a house in Collierville and a couple of available homes are backed onto the wastewater plant. Seems to me there would be an obvious odor, and perhaps other issues, but I'm currently out of state and so I can't investigate on my own. Any insight on this being a problem throughout Shelton Hills or at least to the homes backed right up to the plant?

Is Shelton Hills further East off Shelton near Peterson Lake Rd?

There are two water treatment facilities in Collierville. We had looked at a lot of houses when we moved here and one was near the water plant that is further East over in that area (if it’s where I think you are referring to). We loved the house and were going to make a strong offer on it, however when we realized from looking at the house on Google Earth that there was a water plant nearby, we decided not to put an offer on the house.

We don’t drive in that area very often you are referring to so I can’t say for that water plant but the other one that about 3 miles or West on Shelton/Wolf River stinks to high heaven! We drive down Wolf River Blvd (which turns into Shelton) by that plant frequently and it smells - not always but more times than not. That plant is right by Creekside II subdivision and a pet daycare spa. I don’t know how they can stand the stench.

Yes it is. And indeed, that's the facility I'm referring to. I didn't know about the additional location on Wolf River Blvd, but I see it now on Google Maps. Thank you so much for your help; I'm going to steer clear of both locations.

You’re welcome! Just some additional info for you... the smell from the one closer to Houston Levee - you can’t smell it around Creekside (the first section at Stillwind Lane) or in Wellington Ridge. We seem to only notice the stench just East of that water treatment plant - perhaps because the wind blows East?

Also, we have friends who live in the next subdivision East of Shelton Hills in River Ridge and I asked and they can’t smell odors from the nearby water treatment plant.
