I haven't seen any but thought it might be worth asking. Unfortunately, they are all the rage where I moved from. That is with the police anyway because they make a lot of $$$moola off of them.

Usually, there is sign that says "Photo Enforced" as drivers approach the intersection. If the light is red when you go through it, the camera is supposed to take a picture of the license plate and mail a ticket to the registration address.

I sincerely hope they are not in Memphis and that they don't come here. They are a pain in the behind and I think a lack of due process. Plus there are questions about timing on green and yellow lights being shortened, though city officials deny this.

Maybe they are in Memphis but the warning signs are not posted. Egads!

I know for sure they are in Germantown, my wife got a ticket! I don't believe there are any in Memphis.

Memphis recently chose the company to supply the red light cameras (the city council approved this concept years ago) but the funding to install them and get it up and running is another thing altogether... Until the funding is approved, the cameras are "on hold", from what I understand...

There are cameras in place. I don't know if they're turned on or not.

They have them somewhere in the city, I've seen them before, but I can't think of where. Germantown has had them for many years as well.

Are there any warning signs as you approach the intersections? Or is your first notice the ticket in the mail?

I don't think I've ever seen a sign, I've just noticed the cameras up on the lights. I've never known anyone to get a ticket from them either.

It seems like I saw a sign at a Germantown light indicating that cameras were there.

Germantown definitely has red light cameras, and Memphis city proper is about to get them. Not sure why there is so much negative press in general on them. Yes, you've to pay attention not to wind up "in the middle" on yellow, but, aren't you supposed to pay attention while driving? Hey, you, yapping on that cell phone without a hands-free, or texting, can you hear me now? And, yes, you also can go to court and contest a ticket based on extenuating circumstances. I've never gotten such a ticket or been through that process, but if I did, and felt the ticket to be unjustified, I'd certainly do so. Now, this thought - if you're in an accident in one of these intersections that really isn't your fault, 'cause some idiot ran the light, don't you hope there's some photo evidence somewhere that it really isn't your fault?
