General question--How do you think Elvis would view Memphis now?

Hard to say. I think he might be disappointed by the area around his home. I think Elvis would like the diversity of Memphis, but who would like the way Memphis has turned over the years? I wasn't around here back then, but I have a feeling it has gone very downhill since his time.

Elvis was a Memphis boy.

I think that he would have gone with the flow and adjusted.

I also think that he may have moved from Graceland to an area that retained more of the rural character that surrounded Graceland when the bought it.

Yeah he would have definetly sold Graceland and would have a mansion in Germantown or something.
Actually he would probably be living in LA and be doing a reality show of some sort, with occasional shows in Vegas. People have to remember - he was born in Tupelo, not Memphis. He doesn't have that concrete a connection with Memphis, it just happened the music scene was there at the time.

But Elvis never claimed Tupelo as his home. He always said his home was Memphis, and every time he went on the road he missed Memphis. He never once said he missed Tupelo.

I agree with mzloolue, I think Elvis would've adapted to the changes in Memphis and probably would've ended up with an estate out in East Shelby County somewhere.

Or he might've stuck with his old flame Cybill Shepherd and bought a house in South Bluffs like she did.

Supposedly, we've been told since I was a little kid that Elvis was one of our cousins...
and that the reason he didn't like his home in Tupelo, was because they were poor then.
Now, don't quote me on that... I have no idea if I was really related to him, just what my Mama told us.

I've lived in Tupelo, and I wouldn't claim it as my home, either. And I don't think I'm related to you. heh heh

Funny....
If you were born in Tennessee and lived near the Nashville area, within, ummmmmmm a hundred mile radius...
Well, then, you could be related to me.
I got lots and lots and lots of cousins, and relatives that have been in Tennessee a looonnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggg time.
Oh, and my Grandfather, well, let's just say, he knew a lot of women.
After he died, my Mom found out she had quite a few extra siblings that she didn't know existed.
I've been told that he was quite the looker.

Who knows,
One of the women that "came out of the woodwork", to tell my Mom that she was her sister, lives in Florida.
So, besides being a "looker", Grandpa didn't stop at the state line.... he cruised on into other states....
LOL
