I see the public school teaching salaris listed on their websits, but does anyone know what the salaries are in the private schools in the area, such as the catholic diocese of memphis and individual private schools? Thank you in advance for your answers.

I remember that my spouse had a job offer to move over to a catholic school, then another church-based school- and the salaries were laughable in comparison to the county OR the city

Private school salaries may be laughable, but maybe worth the cut in pay. From what I hear, it's worth it not to put up w/ all the "ick" in public schools in Memphis.

I work for Memphis City Schools and I would take a pay cut if it meant transferring to a private school. Now, with that being said - I'm moving at the end of the summer anyway once I finish my graduate degree. Look into the private and charter schools but base your decision off of 'quality of life' instead of salary. MCS pays out some of the highest public school salary in state I believe, but there is most definitely a cost. MCS is also now under a new administration which may change things...
