My family and I are moving to Memphis, TN in 2010 and looking for a nice place to live with a good school system. My intentions are to buy a home with 3+ bedrooms, 2+ baths, 1600 - 2000 sq ft in the price range of 100K to 150K in a nice neighborhood. Can anyone provide some recommendations of places to live.

Where will you be working? Search zillow.com or trulia.com for nearby neighborhoods. Midtown and Cooper Young have young families, but Memphis is very spread out. It has an unusually high proportion of its school-age children in private schools. Depends on where you are coming from and what you are used to.

You really need to provide more details, because as bemer said, it's very spread out. Will you be working in Memphis, North, south, east, or west? or in a suburb? Are you willing to look at a suburb, or do you want to live in the city? If so, can you afford private schools?

Good school system. 1600-2000 sq ft 3/2 in a nice neighborhood...for 100K-150K. That's going to be a bit of a challenge. For that price you'll probably be on the low end of your square footage requirement and on the high end of your price range. I'd suggest finding something in the Bartlett city limits...and in the Bolton High School district. You might find somthing in Arlington, but most of the homes there are beyond that price range. Forget about Germantown and Collierville...they're beyond your reach.

Good luck...

BTW, are you moving to Memphis, Ft. Worth or Jacksonville? You posted this exact message on all three forums....

if someone is making you move here or because of your job, you need to move to collierville, germantown, arlington, further east of memphis the better off you are, even oakland which is in fayette county. i would not recommend memphis to anyone to live unless you are wealthy and able to live in an elite gated community. not safe in memphis, look on american fact finder .com, facts are unreal. check it out
