Hope is intangible. I have questioned it, like when my Mom died, It also helps to be around people who are encouraging, and sometimes that can be a challenge.

When I watch the news it really seems hopeless, our society. I try not to watch too often or it will trigger depression, I have learned. Not sure if OP meant this, but just adding my 2 cents.

Yeah, its a kind of wish list, some small things, some larger ones. Hope you make them come true, Imcurious.

But I understand that point too when one cant even make a hope/wish for list. When it seems all the good stuff you hope for is just some fantasy, even if its based on reality and not a million to one long shot fantasy. Thats kinda how I feel now. I think when its been a long time waiting, struggling and not seeing forward progress, you begin to think this is it, the rest is just some fantasy. I think thats how ya can come to feel about it.

You are right DofM, watching the news or reading the paper can make caring people feel very sad and down about mankind and the future of the world. Ever read about the problems with illegals coming into South Africa? So sad people cant all get along and work together and of course the government crooks always have plenty for themselves and not do enough for the people they are suppose to be serving. I always wish I could do something more, be a superman if you will to help people and animals. That would be one of my fantasy hopes. I guess all we can do is do as much as possible with what we have to work with.

Maybe this thread needs us to start listing the things we hoped for that became reality!

Hmmm....little and big things...if we hoped for it then it fits.

Actually, that's gonna be some huge lists for some of us and others...maybe they've forgotten many of the things they hoped for and at some future time, received.

Right, there's is no point. Unless he plans on aiding me directly in my struggles with mental illness and in life, which has yet to happen, it's a waste of time. I may as well keep going it on my own.
In my occasional depths of my hopeless depressions, I turn to God in a very ironic way, for some hope!

"Thank you God, you give me hope! You admit you made serious mistakes in engineering the human race, and to apologize for all the oversights, you created nuclear weapons to put us all out of our pain and misery some day!"

There is hope in / for you.
You can either find the courage (the word courage is from the latin "cor" > heart btw) to open and access it or you can willfully deny it which is what you're doing.
It's easier said than done but it is possible.
It's just my sense that the only power you have (or that you feel / believe you have) is the power to negate.
I know what that's like. It's awful.

Sure hope that I am right that there is a God...or at least one with mercy...I sure HOPE when I leave this world that I do not enter dark and endless oblivion....to not exist...and to not know....is terrifying ...we all hope for the best...hope is the fuel of faith.......Some say they think this and that...I do not think that there is oblivion after death...you must believe...there is life...The power of belief and hope probably over power physics..................all I can do is hope- believe..Even if I am wrong...at least the long ride to the edge of the abyss will be tolerable .......HOPE is a gift...it also may be a God given opiate..

What if our hopes are accepted as prayers? No, we don't always get what we ask for in prayer. I wonder....
