Wellbutrin and Prozac together?

I saw the doctor today and she is adding Prozac to my dosage of Wellbutrin. It's a small dose to start with 10mg and I hope it will be enough.

My new dosage will be Wellbutrin 150 2X a day and Prozac 10mg once a day.The doctor really seems this combo will be good for me if not the Prozac alone.

I've never been on Prozac before but my mother was on it way back in the day and she was a completely different person (for the better). I'm a little uneasy with being on so much medication. Ive always tried hard to avoid taking prescription drugs of any kind for any reason. I got tired of struggling on my own so I'm giving it a shot but I dont want to change who I am because even though I'm depressed I like who I am.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

The Prozac worked better for my husband than the Wellbutrin so the doctor switched him back. That was about 15 years ago.

I've never taken the two of them together, but I had a lot of problems on Wellbutrin. It doesn't seem to play well with other drugs, at least in my body. I also had a weight gain issue with it.

As for being uneasy, I totally understand. I have fibro, and a few years ago was on Zoloft which made me an absolute zombie. I swore off of prescriptions for a long time. Now I'm on Cymbalta, and I can actually function again. All prescriptions have side effects, but it's all about finding what works for you. I have to pay the price by not drinking alcohol and making sure I NEVER miss a dose (it has terrible withdrawl) but my muscle pain, fatigue, brain fog, depression is all gone.

Just hang in there, and communicate exactly how you feel to your doctor. You're probably going to have to try quite a bit before you get that "just right" cocktail.
