Out of curiosity, how do they determine you are a citizen? Do you give them a social security # and they cross-reference it with driver's license photos or passport photos or something?

People there are tons of areas in the US/Mexico border and US/Canada border you can walk or drive across and be a hundred miles in the other country. Only a mere fraction of the border is guarded and that is because it is reality at work.

There are entire towns that if you just walked from one side of a street to the other you would have crossed from the US to Canada and vice versa without going across a border guard.

U.S.-Canada border towns lament gates - US news - Security | NBC News Of course some of these now got some security theater but for the most part these towns you can still cross the border in them like before.

Border towns split asunder

Several are in Arizona, Texas and California. Eagle Pass, Hidaglo, Douglas. Laredo. San Diego. Just to name a few. You can cross a street and be in another country.

Have you been to any of these cities? There are fences or a river on the border in all of them. No way you just accidentally walk into Mexico crossing the street.

Actually it's the same for hispanics. I've crossed over the border with hispanics and they had no more trouble than I had.

It's very easy to drive into Mexico --- you get on the wrong exit and you can be there without realizing.

Not the free bridge -- the Bridge of the Americas -- in El Paso. People just drive on over to the USA and also into Mexico --- no money needed.
