my father was born in Mexico and is a resident here in the United States. I am a US citizen and am looking into getting dual citizinship so that I can become a mexican citizenship because I got a really good job opportunity in Mexico. But Im kind of confused, I know that I can get my mexican citizinship because my dad was born in mexico. But does that mean I give up my rights as a US citizen. I still want to be able to come to the United States, this is my country. But I do want to go live in Mexico for a couple of years andI would like to be a mexican citizenhship. And how much does it cost to apply for the dual citizenship and how long does it take to get it. Im guessing I would have to take my fathers birth certificate and an ID. PLease help

hola. I was born in the United States to a mexican father and an american mother.
I have lived in Mexico for over 10 years and want my dual citizenship.
I am told since my birth certificate states that my father was Mexican I can get dual citizenship if I take my BC to the consulate in Nogales and get it apostilled. My BC from the US has the purple stamp on it.
Do you think this is enough?
Thanks in advance.

When I was in Canada, there was a political party (in fact two of them) that wanted me to run as their candidate for member of the provincial legislature, and they said they would fast-track my Canadian citizenship in order to get me in as a citizen before the next election. I declined the opportunity, but often wish I had taken them up on it. If I had served two terms, I'd have that pension, too.

So there are ways to get citizenship to just about anywhere.

My Canadian niece got fast tracked for US citizenship, so she could skate with her American pairs partner in the Olympics (where she won the silver medal).

My experience of Mexico and its 'government' would make me cling to US citizenship in your position. At least then you have a lifeline when things go south.

You can buy beachfront property through a company...

Good luck.

My grandmother was born in the United States in 1906. As an adult, she moved to Mexico and had 5 children there. They never obtained naturalized citizenship. Does anyone know the process to obtain naturalized citizenship? All five siblings are still alive.
