Thought this was interesting to post and that is President Calderon has just announced that by 2011 Mexico will have universal health coverage for all it's citizens as a massive building program of new hospitals and health clinics have been underway and also that every citizen will have health insurance whether they can afford it or not.

bad is better than nothing, I had a massive hemorrhage in Brazil, my only option was the Hospital de Base de Brasilia, which it's the same quality as the Hospitales del seguro in Mexico.

The service was bad, the doctors worse, they left me abandoned there for days without telling me what was wrong or when was I going to be released, the nights were hard! but they saved my life, if it wasn't for that I wouldn't be here writing today.

And they left me inside for free given the seriousness of my condition, without being a citizen and took care of me, not really good care but I prefer that to be dead now.

Mexico is on the right track on many things, I do disagree on the way the government is handling the economic crisis though, but the rest of projects that are being planted right now even if they take years to yield fruits will make this country a powerhouse

you say that because you've never had to face an emergency, and have 0 protection.

for some people even the worst of the worst services could be the difference from life to death.

But why do you think it's gonna be that bad? what are your bases to believe that?

when it was established, IMSS used to be pretty good, it remained good for a long time, until corruption and bad management turned it into what it is now, even with that for some people the IMSS provides the only means of medical attention.

People dies in the IMSS Hospitals for nothing.... In the public hospitals the service is worst...The solution must be that any citizen could access private hospitals with their IMSS quotas...

This is true, many people die because of poor service, I agree that a better solution would be that, many doctors have already agreed with that, but what would be needed to use your IMSS quota in a private hospital?

they are ran by private industries, there are several companies that provide insurance, like qualitas, genesis, new york life, etc.

there is also social security in Mexico that is ran by the IMSS which means Mexican Social Security Institute, and the ISSTE which is the Institute of Social Security for State workers, the main diference is that one is for every citizen who is affiliated, and the other is reserved to those who work for the government.

if you have any more questions let me know my friend, regards

is easy, instead of your Social Security contributions to be a bottomless pit as the IMSS is currently, better used to pay your health insurance and so you have greater freedom to choose which doctor and hospital you attend.

The IMSS disappear naturally.
