Ok, this topic has probably been beaten to death already around here, but I just feel the need to make this. We need some positivity.

We all just love to talk about how rude people are, how bad they drive, how bad the costumer service this. Not all of Miami is like this, only 99%. Haha jk jk, but there are nice people. I made this so people can post positive experiences they've had with people in Miami recently. Here's mine, basically the whole reason I felt compelled to make this.

So, after the whole day hopping from bookstore to bookstore, my dad and I finally decided to just go to the public library to try to find this book I needed for school. We went to the Miami Lakes Public Library. The lady there was really helpful and one of the most nice people I have met while out. She started in Spanish and when she saw that I was more comfortable with English she just switched over with no problem, no accent. She didn't even have to check on the computer, I just said the name of the book and she took me to where it was exactly, on the way explaining everything I would ever need to know about the book and some tips about the test (the book was to help me study for an AP US history exam). I found exactly I was looking for in less than 2 minutes after walking through the door of the place for the first time. She even helped me apply for a library card and I had my card and book checked out 10 minutes after walking in. She then smiled and said have a nice day to me and my dad, on of the few times I've actually heard this from a stranger in Miami.

I realize these kind of people are the minority, but just their existence makes me want to keep going and be nice also. This shows you that not all people in Miami are rude and mean.

So, who else has had a similar experience recently?

I'M JUST KIDDING!!!!!!

For the greater part of the time I was treated great while I was down there, meaning the main part of Miami such as Hialeah, Allapattah, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove etc. or South Beach. The one rude group of people I had to deal with was down in Big Pine Key, but more detail on that at some other time.

Lol Glad to hear you were treated nicely. Usually people like to the say the opposite, as if they forgot about all the positive experiences and only concentrate on the one negative one.

Most recent is this. My son and I went to John Pennekamp Park yesterday and took a 3 hour snokeling trip. We had a great time and the people were very nice too!

Touching the hand of the Christ of the Abyss is said to be good luck, here is a photo I took of my son going for it.

I have met many nice people in Miami over the years .. at restaurants , hotels and businesses ... even at Miami International Airport .. some of the service people are good ... but the rude always seem to grab the spotlight and are a large segment of the population down there .. hence they are more high profile .

I recently took my daughter all the way down to Kendall to see a knee specialist .. guy from Argentina originally ... nicer doctor and more professional staff than anything I have found in Broward or the Parkland area .. who would have thought ??

The negative is always on peoples minds and in the news more than the positive .

If I had as much contact with nice people as I do with rude people, I am pretty sure I would have the positive on my more often. It's not some random bad experience that sticks with you, it's habitual...so the nice ones actually stick out since they are so few and far between. The rude ones all blurr into what we call life.

It is cool when you have these good experiences though, right an email to the library about that staff member or at least to the Manager. Let's reward civil behavior and see if we can get it going large scale now!!!
