Looking for a gated community in the north west section of Miami Dade...near I75...or perhaps south west section of Broward...but we must be able to store our 30 foot boat on property as we do now. Any suggestions? Thanks....

As long as you can fit the boat (going under bridges, enough draft, long enough lot) it isn't a problem.

Miami and South Florida is a boaters paradise!

I think the original poster is talking about storing the boat in the yard not on a canal.

Exactly, not a very popular thing from home owner associations. I wouldn't want some boat in a drive way in my neighborhood either. Might be hard to find a gate community which allows this.

Of course you could always store it at a dry marina. I have never seen any oats on property in Miami Lakes gated communities.

I really can't think of any! I live in Country Walk and I know it's definitely not allowed. Three Lakes is across from us and they have a huge lake that allows motored boats and they are not allowed to store them in the yard. They do have a boat yard that you can store them on a trailer. The same with the Hammocks. But it's not gated.

Gated communities are garbage, usually set up to avoid setback requirements and cram more residential units per acre. Be smart, buy a home with 1 acre or more and put up your own gate. Then you have room for your boat, a garage, shed or whatever you want. Put in some Spanish bayonet and a few no trespassing signs with bullet holes in them and enjoy life.

No Gated community is going to allow you store you boat in the driveway. You will face huge fines and the community will call the police on you (it happens). Dry dock storage would be the best bet or find a condo north which has a canal for the community to you.

Boats have to hidden from the street in Miami-Dade, meaning they have to behind a fence otherwise you will be fined. There are some gated communities that have locked storage area for boats and jet skis in the community, just not on the individual properties.

Boats stored on property are not allowed in any part of Miami Lakes. Palm Springs North does allow them. It's not a gated community, but it's a decent place to live.

I can't think of one nice community, gated or ungated, in SW Broward that allows boats on property....
