When did you fly into MIA.

Front desk to terminal all depends on where you are. I live right in the middle of the city. I can get to MIA in about 15mins. MIA will also shortly have a metrorail station. MIA is a far superior airport than FLL. Besides for low fares it has nothing going for it. It all depends on the location you are coming from. FLL used to be the easier airport but these days FLL is packed and out dated, MIA has more room and is much more modern.

Just my experience... I avoid it at all costs. Coming back from a foreign country is terrible there too. Passport control is the worst. 2 small rooms and crazy lines. FLL was wonderful 2 months ago to Colorado to snowboard. I went to Costa Rica (at least 4 times a year) to surf the same month and Miami was the usual crazy long security lines and uncomprehendable airport speaker system and bad return. I prefer efficency over modern, big, shops, ect... Get me in and out quick without hassle and Im happy. FLL was the fastest I had ever gotten though in a long time.
