Even college kids don't know where to party or have a good time in Raleigh. The main street(Hillsborough street) for NC's state campus has like 2 dance clubs. And when I say club I mean a pool hall that has a capacity of 150 people. The city of Raleigh cracks down on loud parties and is strict on enforcement. The city makes it a point to keep it mellow.

Well, it never occurred to me to even look here...I've been hanging out in the Western North Carolina forum. My Gawd......we are so outta here (leaving Miami)! We just sold our condo..yes, you read that right. We have a SALE after only three months on the market and having our realtor actively market it. We never refinanced so we were able to make someone a GREAT deal and still walk away with more than enough to do some renovations on our new home in the Asheville area. We are getting a 3000 sq foot home on 3/4's of an acre on a culdesac in a very private nice area but only two minutes from everything. Cool location.....got this property for $250K. Taxes are nothing compared to what the new buyers are going to have to pay for our 1600 sq foot condo for almost the same price.
It is gorgeous up there..we love it and can't wait to get there. And yes, it is being built up and all the major "chains" are coming, which we hate. But there is always something to do up there in a much nicer atmosphere.
You might wonder about our age...you guessed right.....we are in our 50's and own our own business...don't need to find jobs there and work out of the home. So for us, this is going to be perfect.

Proud to be a Half Back

Asheville is beautiful...I've vacationed there and it is awesome. Have you checked out Chimney Rock?

Thanks All...we are not retiring, but lucky enough to have a business that works out of our home. And now we will have a home large enough to separate work from home also even with it's own entrance.
Yes, been to Chimney Rock and the entire area. We used to go up every summer in the 70's and 80's. Starting going again and found our perfect place.

BYE BYE FLORIDA - Congratulations, wish I could say the same thing, but we haven't found that place to move to yet. But we will, hopefully sooner than later. Friends that have moved to the Carolinas are all very happy they left, I am sure you will too, congrats!

Congratulations, Bye Bye Florida!

And when I win the Florida Lotto one of these days to finance early retirement, I'll be joining you up there, at least in the summer and fall
