affordable?, Jacksonville on balance.

better beaches? Subjective. I have heard nice things about Jacksonville beaches.

better job market? Subjective. It depends on what you do.

better nightlife? Also subjective, but Miami has the reputation as party town par excellence.

better singles scene? See above.

more diversity? I have the impression that both are kind of skewed, but Miami probably wins out on that score.

more educated people? You'd probably receive an answer to that one by checking out the City.data statistics on education for the two cities.

Good luck!

Affordable? Jacksonville I would think. Property values didn't get as crazy high as they did in Miami.

Beaches? Not sure but if you plan on going to the beach for the day there is a good beach everywhere in Florida within an hour and a half drive.

Job Market? I would think Jacksonville since Miami has so many low-income dead-end jobs here.

Night life and Singles scene? I'm sure Miami.

Diversity? Well, if you mean many types of Hispanics then Miami. If you mean a combination of Hispanics, Whites, and Others than I would think Jacksonville.

Educated people? Because Miami has so many uneducated people bringing down the average I'd have to imagine Jacksonville would win out here too.

I should mention the disclaimer that I've never lived in Jacksonville but a friend of mine does and he likes is so much better than Miami.

Affordable? Jakcksonville
Beaches? Miami
Job Market? Miami
Nightlife? Miami
Singles scene? Depends on what you want. Miami is full of gold diggers and JAX is relatively limited.
Diversity? Both about the same (Jax 60% white Miami 60% Latin American)
More educated people? It's really a stretch for either, but Jacksonville

You might want to consider Fort Lauderdale. It's a winner in all of your criteria except for affordability.

Those two cities are so different - it's an interesting choice. Miami is an international city and Jax is simply a smaller city. My mother is from Jacksonville and I happen to love the area there, but Miami is a completely different animal. It depends on what your priorities are and what you like to do for fun. To me Jax is basically Tampa (or any number of American smaller cities)- it doesn't have it's own "flavor" if you will. Miami is just beyond anything you could imagine in the United States. It is literally just a totally different world. For some people it's a flavor they hate, for some it's just amazing. I'm in the latter -but I can totally understand the draw of a more "vanilla" experience like Jacksonville. The beaches there are beautiful - Ponta Vedra is one my favorite places to visit.
