Okay so I am Muslim and my wife covers her hair (wears hijab)

Just after 9/11 A truck full of young guys scream out "go back to the desert you sand <insert insult>) then attempt to swerve at her like they are trying to run her off the road. She was afraid for months to go out by herself after that one.

I figured ok its after a tragic event so this will calm down in a year or so. But then four months ago while she was in Cooper City some guy rolls up to the side of her car and runs his fingers across his neck as to say he will slit her throat. She was really scared at that one, but i figured it was probably some low life no big deal. Then today while driving some guy screams out of his window "go home you Eye-raqi <insert insult>". This really starts to drain on you after a time and now my wife is paranoid about driving around and going places by herself (as she should be).

I really can't wait to vacate this place.

Looks like the propaganda machine is working well. If this is the way some Americans view people from the middle east, it is no wonder that things are going badly. "Divide and conquer" is how the big shots keep the average person from making progress. This took place in Dade or Broward county?

It is an embarressment you were harrassed by these people. I live in Cooper City, and we even have a muslim school nearby. I look forward to voting next year and get the current administration out of Washington....again. But on a local level, the bigotry and hatred you and your wife encountered is unexcuseable. I can only think these people are narrowminded, were raised this way, and are influenced by our current administration.

The incident where the guy ran his finger across his neck was in Cooper City, in fact it happened while she was dropping our kid off at that school in cooper city.

While I think it is terrible that those people said what they said, we should keep it in persepctive. All they did was exercise their right to free speech (and show their ingnorance). However, the one making a slashing motion might be considered threatening speech though and that wouldn't be convered by the first ammendment.

In Muslim countries non-muslims face much more than insults. Under Sharia law non-mulsims (dhimmis) have sever restrictions placed on them. Not all restrictions are enforced at all times in every country that practices Sharia law but the laws are still on the books and could be enforced at any time. Also, in this country anyone can convert to Islam without anyone batting an eyelash. In muslim country if you convert from Islam to another religion you can be put to death.
Again, I'm sorry to hear your wife had to deal with ignorant people but at least none of her rights were violated or taken away.

This is appalling that it happened to you. The level of ignorance is astounding. A few months ago there was even someone posting on this forum trying to learn whether there were a lot of Arab doctors in Florida so that she could avoid them because she's a good Christian. Amazing.

I have absolutely no idea what 90% of your post has anything to do with the price of rice in china. We are in America, this happened in America so unless I missed something your other inaccurate statements really don't have much to do with the topic.

Allow me to point out a few things that are wrong with your mindset.

1. I was born in brooklyn nyc

2. I can clearly tell you have never in your life traveled to Africa, middle east or any other Muslim dominated country.

3. i doubt you have left America

4. lets say a man in china kills a dog. Another Chinese man living in Nebraska has his dog killed by street youth. Does that mean it makes the killing of his dog right? You can do better than that.

I am extremely disappointed in you as a person.

we in America are extremely insulated culturally. We know little about the different ethnic groups in America no less whats gong on in the world. I understand where this lady is coming from, she honestly just doesn't know any better I am sure.

Then permit me to explain. I was saying that the type of discrimination your wife encountered was mild compared to the same situation a non-muslim would encounter in a predominately muslim country. That's all.

I've been to Malaysia--there was no discrimination against non-Muslims, unless perhaps you went in a Mosque and acted disrespectully.

I'm sorry this happened to you. I find it odd that it happened in Broward Co.
