I second this recommendation, love this place. The Chef can easily be in the Gables or South Beach, look past the location and you have a great meal.

In Kendall Siam Bistro (117th Ave.) is known for delicious Thai, with nice touches like they will often use orchids on your plate. In the summer, go out of your way to get the mango sticky rice, served on a banana leaf - soooo good!

South Garden has the most authentic Chinese food I've found in Miami, in a sit-down atmosphere, if you're looking for some more unusual dishes.

Fadda's has authentic (and pretty gourmet) Sardinian and Italian food - and how often do you get a chance to have Sardinian? Definitely worth trying!

Coral Gables has tons of delicious restaurants - I like Maroosh and Yuga, among others.

You can also get Indonesian at Indomania on the Beach which gets some rave reviews - but check ahead, they are not open every day. Bali Cafe in Miami is even better by some accounts.

And if you happen to be in Miami, the Lost & Found Saloon has some great food in a unique atmosphere.

One thing Miami does well, is food.
