Good for batting baby seals, worst in the hemisphere.

Back in 1959 when Fidel and an army of long-bearded men took over the island, it would have been laughable for them to

think the U.S government would act as a facilitator of the process rather than a disruptor. Having read the above lines

could have made you think you are about to read a very vague article, but I encourage the lector to re-think deeply

whether the government of the richest country on earth has dealt with Cuba and its seemingly endless dictatorship cleverly.

During my time living in this country (two years) I have heard politicians, senators, public figures and others refer to

Cuban leaders almost always in a negative manner. Senator Marco Rubio recently made statements that made sense by

saying Cubans were being allowed into the country under a “refugee” status which does not exist. The international term

refugee refers to people seeking asylum in foreign countries due to persecution by governments or terrorist organizations,

and does not apply to Cubans coming to the U.S nowadays. If that were the scenario, then Cubans would be imprisoned

upon returning to the island, and everybody knows is the other way around. Everybody is aware of what takes place when

Cubans flight back into the island. Most of us yearn to go back to visit our family and friends, but no person is prosecuted

or put in jail. The Cuban government let Cubans head back to the U.S as if they were tourists whose joyful trip has come to

an end.

If we were to analyze the scenario even deeper, we would realize that by allowing Cubans into the U.S that brave mindset

that once dominated among most Cubans, and that would kick off wars against Spain and subsequently against Batista’s

dictatorship, has completely vanished. And one wonders why. Cubans are not willing to go into a war that would put their

families and other interests at stake, not when the problem has a much more reasonable solution: escape to the U.S.

Hence, the idea that the country of the stars and the stripes carries a bit of responsibility for the success of the Cuban

Revolution.

While America keep on imposing stupid sanctions that have been good for nothing and that have not had any effect on the

totalitarian government, other than the justification of poverty levels in Cuba by claiming that Washington has been guilty

throughout the years, the decadent regime keeps on pocketing the money that hard-working Cubans send into the island by

taxing everything coming from the U.S. I also argue that had the U.S never allowed Cubans in, now the current rulers

would be history. Simply because the lack of escaping ways would have created a bubble that by now would have burst.

This goes to demonstrate the lack of good decision making by American lawmakers once again. They have failed to realize

that throughout the years, the Cuban dictators have been putting the blame on them. Hence, having a “guilty” to point at

has saved the Cuban governors from the people’s fury.

If the intention is to spark a change in Cuba, then the U.S should get rid of the Helms Burton law, close the military base

located in Guantanamo, ban the entry of all Cubans to the country and treat Cuba as it would any other country. It is that

intelligent approach that accomplish goals and not the hate nor the repression one. Only then Cuba will fall off of the

communist tree by itself.

Excuse my grammar.
