As a soon-to-be ex-Miami resident, I'm trying to decide which residential moving companies I should call for estimates to transport my belongings halfway across the country. Despite my best efforts, an internet search really hasn't produced any useful information.

I'd be interested to learn if anyone has recommendations, based on their own experiences, on what companies in the area would be best and which would be best avoided.

I suppose this question is primarily directed at those who have moved away but still lurk and post here. And, perhaps I should try to hunt down some Miami transplants on the Charlotte, Raleigh, and Atlanta boards. But, hopefully, a few folks here who haven't left south Florida can also offer some good first- or second-hand information and/or horror stories.

Thanks much.

I moved to Miami from the Midwest and found We Haul Moving, who is based out of Fort Lauderdale. Most people were quoting me about $2500 for the move, but they did everything for $1500. I boxed everything up myself, but they came and moved everything onto the truck, drove it down to Miami, then unloaded it into my new place. They did an excellent job of working with me on my schedule and nothing arrived broken. I too am looking to get out of Miami and will use them again for sure. Moderator cut: DM this info please Good luck to you on your move! That area of the country is beautiful.
