Well, I was inspired by what happened in the East Coast when a university student proposed to change the Latin motto of the state.

I want to believe that many posters are trolls....

Absolutely surrealist.

I wonder if they were ever taught that the Founding Fathers spoke Latin, among many other languages.

Indeed, archaic Spanish word meaning rounding up, Latin origin. I haven't seen them in Spain, maybe in Andalusia and Extremadura. Not similar to bullfighting. There are "concursos de domas"but very refined, just as the Vienna School. American Rodeo comes from Extremadura, then Mexico, as all the cowboy culture. Charro culture, charro is a rural dweller from Extremadura.

I have seen American-Mexican style rodeos in Spain geared for tourists in the past, now is not PC and considered criminal by cat lovers.

Cat lovers want to eradicate bullfights, brothels, throwing goats from bell towers and most festivities using animals, which are many. They want people to have square heads and eat Vegan bockwursts.

Burrotaxis are also forbidden as they consider that burros are exploited. Burro is also an American word, and you have the original ones now living in the wilderness.

I was taught that in high school, but my generation was the last of a by-gone era when when real men actually taught us not only the Constitution, but even more fundamental lessons like discipline and respect with rod and staff, even fists if necessary, and we loved them for it.

No less than we love you, CHESTER MANIFOLD (which is much more than I can say for statisticians).

Is this entire thread some sort of online performance art for Art Basel?
So much ridiculousness.

Aristophanes ...

We already told you: reductio ad absurdum

It's been a good play.

Silence!

E Pluribus Unum seems to have kind-a fallen by the wayside, too.

Considering that nearly half the "English" language is based on Latin (the other roughly half based on Germanic/Anglo-Saxon) root words, I seriously suggest the poster who confused Latin for "Mexican" invest in a dictionary. The American Heritage Dictionary can be found at any bookseller, and makes a handy reference as well as good reading for explaining the history of language.

BTW, nearly ALL colleges & universities in the United States have seals with Latin phrases, or the schools' mottos in Latin. Latin was taught in most schools - and is still taught in a few - up until fairly recently, like the 1960s. The Catholic mass was said only in Latin until 1965, all over the world, so Roman Catholics studied Latin. It is one of the universal languages, especially in math & science.

I have an idea: let's make America SMART again, because it never stopped being great, but it sure as heck has slipped among the nations of the world in intellectual achievement. Let's start with people who obviously have no affiliation with the University of Miami trying to take a swing at it by showing how they'd never qualify to get on campus to even cut the grass, let alone be admitted to study there!
