temperature/warm is relative

If you're an Eskimo....yes
....if you're a native...hell no

Haven't we had this discussion ad nauseam?

Yes, you can swim in the ocean in December. Sometimes the air temps in December are hot, sometimes warm, sometimes cool however the ocean right now is still about 80 degrees.

Some locals think it is too cool, some like me, enjoy it.

However, the sun sets early so get out on the beach early. As in before noon. Once that sun starts setting about three-ish, it even gets too chilly for me to get in the water.

ok so i guess for someone from NY water should be pretty warm
because Highest water temperature of the year (august) in NYC is about the same as Miamis December temperature )

Water will be fine...only thing that could complicate your plans is if we get a 2-3 day Canadian cold front and the air temperature is only in the 60’s.

OMG is this even real???!!! The water at South Beach is warm year round. And so what if it's one of those few days when it dips down into the 60s? It's always sunny when it does that.

The water itself is fine. It's getting out that sucks.

I don't enjoy swimming in cool, crisp weather. For me it has too be hot and preferably humid.

Maybe if you're from New York. I'm from Texas and I was shocked at how cool Miami actually got during it's "winter". Nothing at all like summer. More like early spring.
