yea, i know its not gonna be like u see on tv. yes im white im bringing my cousin with me to id rather not be in a majority spanish speaking neighborhood im fine with latino people its that i dont speak any spanish, what i was thinkin about doing instead of personal training right off the bat is get a steady job first security or something like that once i get settled down for awhile and find any decent jobs at gyms then do the personal training... im sure we'll both have to start out only makeing 10-12 bucks an hour so that will be anywhere from $3200 to $3840 a month between the both of us so can anyone reccomend any areas that are decent and a reasonable price range or any other jobs just starting out there in miami, thanks

Unless youre in IT or a tech field- there isnt much- banking dried up last year- tourism definitely dried up becuase of the way the economy- and along with that restaurants are drying up also. In your range I would recommend the Beach because the rent on some of those apartments is now under 1000 a month and theyre throwing in the utilities and trash pickup. There are still a few jobs on the beach also.

Theres lots of D- license security jobs. Plenty of downtown and brickell condos employ security 24hrs. the security jobs usually pay between 12 and 16 an hour from what im seeing. if you have no exp oure probably gona get between 10-13 an hour. There are listings in the back of the Miami New Times for South Beach apartments for 600-1000 a month- theyre trying to fill them since way less people came down than expected this year.

where were you looking? i looked on craigs list alot of them required g license too and you have to be 21 to get that before i come down ill call every gym around and see if they are hireing, then when i get there ill get my D license i dont want to work for under $10 an hour. idk if ill bring my cousin or not cause then ill have to worry about him getting a job to, to start of i might just get a room mate down there so i only have to pay 400-500 a month

Hey Mike, I would suggest looking into getting an apartment in North Beach. It is walkable, compact, up and coming, and full of good restaurants/bars etc. Also, it's easy to get to south beach, the upper east side of Miami (Wynwood, Design District, Miami Shores, etc.), and downtown. North beach rents are generally cheaper and it is more centrally located (in my opinion). Another option might be Fort Lauderdale or Hollywood which is roughly 15 miles from Miami/Miami Beach and 8 or 10 miles from Fort Lauderdale. Hollywood has a good amount of job opportunities, and a tight, walkable, urban downtown area and beach area with a 2 mile plus "broadwalk" area that is heaven for joggers, cyclists, etc. Super easy commute to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. Hope this helps. Also, don't believe the hype that is popularized by the haters. The greater Miami area isn't that different from other large metro areas except for the higher percentage of latinos/hispanics. Just stay in your comfort zone and try to avoid the northwest part of Miami-Dade county (Liberty city, parts of carol city, opa-locka, parts of hialeah, brownsville, norland, bunche park, overtown, etc.) and some parts of south dade (perrine, goulds, richmond heights, etc.). There still is some nice parts of the greater Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area despite what the knuckleheads say. Miami beach, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, the upper east side, Miami Shores, parts of North Miami (only a couple though!). Anyways, good luck.
