The cheapest way is the bus, this link is to the Miami's bus routes http://www.miamidade.gov/transit/library/tm_for_web.pdf (broken link) but this isn't the fastest. A taxi, shuttle or limo may be faster. Try posting this question on http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum...i_Florida.html they may have more information for you.

I currently live in Sunny Isles Beach. Your best bet is to catch the bus South on collins which will take you all the way to South Beach. In South Beach you will be able to catch a bus that connects you to the downtown area. Your best bet is to take a taxi from South Beach. It will cost about 7 or 8 dollars. If you take a taxi from Sunny Isles Beach to the American Airlines Arena it will run you about 20 - 25 dollars. Good luck on your trip.

One more thing I forgot to add. The area across the America Airlines arena (Biscayne Blvd) is not the best. I would not be caught there at night. Next to the America Airlines Arena is Bay side which has great night life and dinning. But when ever you enter Downtown Miami be on your guard. The homeless line the streets and the area across Biscayne Blvd is dangerous.

Bus service may not run at night, and even if it did, I would not be standing around alone downtown. You should be just fine as long as you stay with a group. I'd opt for the taxi for your return back to your hotel. If you are adventurous and have plenty of time you could take the bus to the venue. However, the bus system here is terrible....sad, but true.
