The problem with USAA is that not everyone qualifies to have insurance with them. If I am not mistaken you have to be a retired officer, retired enlisted personnel, be currently enlisted, or a spouse or child of one of the previously mentioned. No one that was drafted during WWII or Vietnam qualifies.

And there's any difference on price from here - from, let's say Miami / Brickell - to something like a suburb in west Broward (let's say, Weston)??

That sounds about right. I hadn't realized until I left the area that the D.C. area has relatively low rates.

When I moved from Bethesda to Las Vegas, my car insurance with the same company almost doubled. Since I now have dual residences and will be leaving one car here, I checked with an agent about switching my insurance from NV to FL and found that it will go even higher. Fortunately, the raise in insurance cost will be offset by a significant drop in the cost to register my car here. In Las Vegas, I have to pay about $1,500/yr in registration fees; here it will only be a couple of hundred (plus an additional $225 the first year).

I have Mercury Insurance.

Me and my mother are together in the policy. I pay 185, that's the lowest. But it also depends on the car year.

My insurance went UP when I moved from downtown to Aventura, so it's not necessarily lower in the suburbs. No "cheapest" insurance here, only "less expensive"

^^^My sister found this out when she was shopping for insurance. I think the further one has to drive to work for instance or to other things the insurance companies see that as a risk of getting in an accident.
