Hi - coming to Miami with a friend on June 1st from London (Miami Beach: to rent)

this is our first time in Miami, could anyone give us some advice. I notice we are comign just after the memorial weekend and I hear bad things about south beach at that time, will we be ok after June 1st? will most of the wanna be g's have left the areas by then? we want to party but not with gangters.....

also, can anyone recommend good bars and clubs that play house/electro/techno music....?

and we are looking to see a marlin game on the 3rd June but I hear the area around the stadium is a bit rough..is that correct? .should we taxi it there or it best to hire a car and drive? is it easy to get taxi's at the stadium after the game?

Hi , I think you are going to have be very open minded!!! us locals don't even think of visiting south beach during the memorial weekend. Try to get a hotel in North Miami Beach or hang out somewhere in Coral Gables or the grove.

If you book at a good hotel, the concierge will be able to hook you up with the best spots and even the Marlins game. Have fun!!

June 1st you still could see some of the Hip Hop Weekend people around South Beach. As far as getting to a marlins game. A taxi is going to be expensive but renting a car and paying the hotel parking fee may be about the same cost as the taxi. Not sure how easy it is to catch a taxi at the stadium.

thanks for the replies....Well we are in south beach until june 6th, when do you think south beach will start getting back to normal?

we have to rent a car anyway to get to key west after south beach so we may just rent it a couple days earlier and drive to the game....sound easier.....

It probably is, but it would take a long time, if you are going to rent a car, just rent it earlier like you said. FYI, parking costs aren't cheap on South Beach, so factor that into your cost.
