More than I can remember seeing in the past years. I have to wonder is that thanks to BP, or am I just noticing them more, either way I see them every day. Most days the kids can rack up 35-40 different states watching license plates going to the beach and back. Weeks-ends they can generally get 45-49 (only see Hawaii about 1 or 2 times a year).
We also seen a lot of Missouri plates in the U.P. We also had to remind ourselves we were in Michigan from all the Wisconsin plates up there.

Yesterday I counted parked cars on Main St. on my way home. 4 Indiana, 3 Illinois, 3 Ohio, 2 Texas, 1 Connecticut, 1 New York, 1 New Jersey, 1 Arizona, 1 Missouri and 11 Michigan. Pretty diverse group, but I was surprised not to see any Wisconsin. I guess they're all over in Door Cty or up in Da UP. MI plates were outnumbered by out-of-staters, but at 3 pm, prime beach, late lunch, and shopping time, that's not a surprise. Local folks were at home, at the film festival or out on the boat somewhere.

Lots of cool boats coming into Leland this past week, including tall ships

This is the schoolship Inland Seas, stopping with crew and a bunch of students

This is the Europa, a BIG tall ship, a Bark to be exact. Built in very early 1900's and refitted a couple decades ago as a cruise ship. It sails all over the world. Was awesome to see it in Leland, anchored just outside the harbor.

Gosh, I love this state. Beautiful ships, sailing on the beautiful waters, in beautiful Michigan...
