Hi,

I have received equally good job offers for both Traverse City and Green Bay. I was wondering....which city you would choose to live in if it were up to you? Most importantly, which is the colder and/or snowier of the two towns? The less cold and snow, the better to me.

Thanks!

TC blows Green Bay away in snowfall.... Green Bay is colder. You cant do much better in terms of beauty then the Traverse City area. Traverse City...no contest.

I second Traverse City hands down. It's an area of natural beauty, and the town/city is awesome.

I lived in TC for quite a few years and I visit Green Bay on a regular basis. Quality of life by far better in TC. Much less crime. Much smaller town. Traffic can be bad at times as there are no freeways like GB.
Obvious advantage to GB though is the Packers.

Green Bay is much colder, but Traverse City gets a lot more snow. So you will have to pick which one of those things is more of a problem for you. It's one or the other...

Green Bay has more shopping and a better airport but also has some problems. Traverse City does have more snow but it is handled very well unless you live out a ways. Snow means you don't have to mow the lawn for five months.

Not GB! While there are good parts, the bad parts are getting pretty bad. We used to live very close to GB and always said we would never live there! I would suggest not living in GB but perhaps a surrounding area if you chose WI. BTY- we just moved to the U.P. from WI and it's so much more beautiful here!

Yes she is right. There are some pretty 'ghetto' areas in GB. The outlying areas are some of the nicest farm country you will find anywhere.

I don't spend much time in Traverse City but adore the Traverse City area: Harbor Springs, Petosky. In the warm months these are some of the most beautiful and idyllic places on earth.

In winter? I imagine it is pretty quiet even in Traverse City, while the two cities I mentioned above completely shut down.

So much depends on your situation in life. But for natural scenery and lifestyle, I really don't think you can get any better than that area of Northern Michigan.
