I am not a cricket person but I know they are owned by AT&T and a cricket customer will not get the same level of service as an AT&T customer. If you google it up you can read and decide.
I suppose the question to ask yourself is just how important your smartphone is minute by minute for you day to day life.

I had Cricket for about a year from November 2015 - November 2016. I came from a grandfathered-in, unlimited Verizon plan.

Cricket was good but keep in mind that download speeds are limited to 8Mbps over 4G LTE. They do offer an unlimited everything plan (data, text, phone) for $65 a month with auto pay and I believe that includes taxes.

They do use AT&T's network and are owned by AT&T. They also announced wifi calling and VoLTE last month. It's also nice is that it will work in Mexico and Canada, even data. Which is convenient considering we are so close to Canada.

I don't know what your phone status is but if you need to buy....
My wife and I recently (November) purchased Moto G4's at $200 each brand new, no contract.
The phones are unlocked and work with any carrier in the USA just by inserting that carriers SIM card. They also have expandable memory to 128 GB. We have been very happy with these phones at that price point. They compare well with phones you would pay $450 and up to have. They don't match the latest and greatest you pay $700 plus for but then they are $500 cheaper.
