South Westnedge Ave. is a very busy street running north and south through the city of Portage. It is the main corridor for commercial development in Portage. There are a lot of streets running off of it that are nice residential neighborhoods. South of Center St. and the High School it is very nice.

There is very little crime near south westnedge, especially in portage, it's like a suburban area in a big metropolitan area, it's very built up, matterfact... Kalamazoo's only mall is off of south westnedge... since there aren't alot of freeways in the area... traffic gets pretty bad around rush hour coming to and from downtown but not as bad as Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, ect... pretty good place to raise a family... like I said it's like a suburb.
