Hello all,

I recently purchased a house in Farmington Hills. I have been digging through the internet in attempt to find the original designer/architect of this house. I have seen quite a few of variations of these houses in Livonia and Southfield. It seems to be a builders' special that was offered with different options. This specific house was built in 1968 by a company called New Design Homes Inc. This information was found from a previous Warranty Deed filed with Oakland County.

I'm curious where else in The States these houses were built and who offered this house plan. I'd love to see some other examples!

Some of the key design elements are the vertical windows/brick openings on the garage and front wall, gable-end overhang details, etc.

ANY info is much appreciated!

Probably will not find it on the internet. Try the City or township clerks records. Check the permit file. There should be a set of plans on file someplace. The architect is supposed to stamp the plans.

In Michigan today Architects do not need to stamp plans for single family residential below 3500sf. But that's from Act 299 of 1980, I don't know what the law was before 1980

Thanks for the info!

My thoughts are since this seems to be a fairly common tract-built house, there was a company who offered this house plan—like Sears, Garlinghouse, Aladdin Company, etc.

I have unshared the OneDrive link in the original post. I have attached the photos hosted on this forum.

This company is currently based out of Wisconsin and also building in Minnesota and Iowa. They have been in operation since the late 60's. Perhaps the same company. Might be worth an inquiry.
