After a lovely stint living in Chicago I have accepted a position in Lansing, so I will be moving back to Michigan. I went to school at MSU and lived in Michigan all my life until Chicago, so I'm quite familiar with the area. Despite this, I cannot figure out where to live! Most of the apartments I'm finding online aren't appealing to me so far I'm in my mid-twenties and used to city life now, so I'd prefer to stay close to some kind of action (not in Holt or Mason type places). At the same time, I'm very much over the college lifestyle and don't want to live in college apartments with a bunch of undergrads. It's important to me that the area be safe, as well, which makes many parts of Lansing unappealing to me.

Thanks in advance to all with input, especially young professionals in the area!

Katie... I grew up near MSU,(Okemos) and I know your pain in regards to living near individuals that have your interests in mind as well as younger people in general. I left to go to UM, and was going to move back to Lansing but had the same issues as yourself. I understand you don't want the college lifestyle again, although E.Lansing is probably one of the only places you'll find alums or a establishment of a younger crowd. Once you move outside of the city your in retiree territory...which I'm sorry to say by the sounds of your request you either go back to E. Lansing or....hey you could move closer to A2 Actually I know several people that had your dilemma, although they chose to live closer to Brighton. Most undergrads move away during the summer, and as for the people I knew, they moved away once they graduated. My advice is someone most likely knows on this forum where to find concentrations of professional and graduate students. Otherwise, I feel for you! I wish I could help more. Good Luck!
