I am in the Coast Guard. The change will be a relief not drastic. I love the outdoors, to include mowing lawns, fishing and snowmobiling. I am ready to leave LA

Cheboygan is kind of a sleepy town
Tourism isn't nearly as big on the east shore as it is on the west shore of northern lower Michigan. I don't know any specifics about housing, but I'll bet it's very affordable up there. You'll get plenty of snow, and there's plenty of woods and water for activities that depend on them. Plus, the Upper Peninsula is right nearby, and I'd be up there every weekend, if I lived in Cheboygan.
