Specifically, the Manchester suburb of St. Louis, as per my experience. I know I’m not the only veteran having this experience. The discrimination involves mainly women veterans.
I had a threat of violence toward me, and the reason for it; I had served in the military. This was reason the perpetrator gave the police.
The police ignored the threat against me. One woman police officer went around my neighborhood turning on me by calling me war crazy and how dangerous it would be if I owned a gun. I was told that I should not own a gun because I served in the military. Excuse me---I'm not a half baked violent hick, thank you very much-
I have put up with all kinds of harassment and nasty remarks. I have even had some people say I have lied about my military service.
It’s been 5 years since moving here and the weirdo’s just keep coming out of the woodwork.
The city just dedicated and veteran’s memorial. Why did they even bother?? To make themselves look good to cover up whom they truly are??
Since when is honorable military service a character flaw??
If anyone, man or woman is having this experience, or something like it, speak up. You don’t have to put up with this and you shouldn’t.
It should be considered a hate crime. Anyone does a criminal act to another based soley on that person's race/religion/etc. and affiliations- and being in the military is an affiliation.
But other than that, it seems like it's just some individuals that are saying things. I've never run into this. But do understand that there are people who aren't patriotic. They don't realize that the military member takes orders from the Commander in Chief....so they misplace all their prejudices on the military member instead of with Congress or the President.

This experience has poisoned me against so much. I don't get any of it. I'm really angry about it. All I think can about is those who have been killed or injured while serving. These people served and never questioned it. I never questioned it either. At the same time I don't believe veterans/military folks should take this kind of treatment, ever.
I will go after the people who carry out this kind of hate. I will expose them in their community and I will not let them hide.
