Me and you are in the same boat I had a OWI 6 yrs ago and they look over my papers I scored a 70-80 on the test and no one calls me back I no that you can get in my brother is in the navy and family in each branch it depends on who u go thru how u handle it and if it's approved
It is NOT up to the recruiter. We do not have that authority. We (the Air Force) END careers over DUIs. Why should we let someone join when a person who has faithfully served can get kicked-out?

Exactly. In the 1980s I flew with three pilots who had a DUI or DWI somewhere in their career, which, with the exception of one who did so in pilot training, was effectively over. A pilot represents a HUGE investment in time and money. And again, that was in the go-go-go 80s. In the 90s I saw a 16-year major kicked out due to a DUI, and in 2002 saw a close friend's career end due to a traffic stop that was allegedly DUI; the charges were dropped, but the damage was done. These were pilots, with the investment that goes along with them; anyone just starting out doesn't have that. Recency of the violation is a factor, too. A kid who tried marijuana as a freshman in HS and hasn't used it since has a significant advantage in any job application compared with a 20-year old who just used it last week. With the current backlog of applicants, the DoD is going to be VERY selective with whomever they bring into the active or reserve component. Any blot on one's record is going to be a disqualifier.

LOL. Good luck with that.
Even the Army, the biggest branch, is tightening down now. Our manning requirements are lower yet we are having more applicants come in. You know what that means? It means we can be more selective in who we admit.
A few years ago during the surge in Iraq, we took any and everyone in. These days, it's not the case anymore.
I'm 19 years old and I have already enlisted in the army 5day before leaving I got a dwi. This is hard and stupid on my part. There was a 2car crash and injuries both on my part and the other driver in which he was drinking also its his 2nd offense. My sgt is aware of this issue but he has not return.
I do have a court date coming soon, not sure what's the next step
Find another career path. Service members are denied reenlistment all the time due to an alcohol issue so why would they enlist someone with an alcohol issue? Knowing that you are just 21 and you already have a DUI, I highly doubt any recruiter out there is going to talk to you.
Start reading here. This is who I was replyling to:
