Except for the Navy which is north of Chicago at Great Lakes, most of the services have training in the south. I would definitely prefer winter to summer. The Air Force trains in San Antonio. The Marines in Paris South Carolina. Not a good place to be in 100 degree plus humidity summer days.

I, like thousands of other Airmen, bunked in the MOB Dorms (WWII era wood firetraps) back in the 70's and mid-80's (San Antonio TX). No air conditioning. I was in basic the month of May. It was miserable, but that was the least of my concerns, I just wanted to graduate on schedule (mission accomplished: May 1981).

I could not fathom a July or August under those conditions; but again, thousands before and after me did just fine. Don't worry about the weather, you'll find out you probably won't have time to.
