Back to work: hand amputee deploys to set example for wounded warriors - PATROL BASE FIRES, Helmand province.
Sergeant Ricardo Ramirez, a combat replacement for 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, wades through an irrigation canal to move
into a night observation post in Sangin, Afghanistan, August 5th, 2011. In February of 2006, Ramirez was wounded in action while
serving in Iraq with 3rd Bn., 5th Marines and two years later became the first hand-amputee to re-enlist in the Marines Corps. Since
then the multiple-tour combat veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan has served as an urban warfare instructor, attended the
pre-sniper course at division schools and stayed close to his infantry roots.

Medal of Honor recipient Marine Sgt. Dakota Meyer tours Ground Zero, Sept. 21 - Sergeant Dakota Meyer, the first living
Marine to be awarded the Medal of Honor for actions since Vietnam, toured the National September 11 Memorial & Museum after
speaking at a ceremony, here, September 21st, 2011. During his speech he told the audience of mostly veterans, firefighters, police
and construction workers, "People have been calling me a hero a lot lately, but you are the real heroes. If this is what being a hero

451st Air Expeditionary Wing celebrates Veterans Day - Master Sergeant Brian Algeo and Major David Watts flatten the
American flag hung on the 451st Air Expeditionary Wing headquarters building at Camp Losano at Kandahar Airfield November 11th,
2011. The flag is 25 feet by 40 feet and was placed in honor of Veterans Day. Algeo and Watts are members of the 451st
Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron.

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Recognizes Veterans On The 70Th Anniversary Of The Dec. 7, 1941, Attacks On Hickam
Field -
U.S. Air Force General Gary L. North, Pacific Air Forces commander, gives a speech December 7th, during the Joint Base Pearl
Harbor-Hickam remembrance ceremony in recognition of the 70th anniversary of the Japanese attacks on the Hawaiian island of
Oahu. Airmen, their families and veterans gathered at Atterbury Circle, the site of the same flagpole that stood during the attack on
Hickam field December 7th, 1941. The ceremony was held to honor the survivors of the attacks and remember the 238 Army Air
Corps airmen who died defending Hickam Field.

Civil War reenactors march down the parade route during the 2012 Veterans Day parade in Downtown Nashville,Tennessee.
Thousands of veterans, active duty and Guardsmen took part in the event. Along the streets, people were lined up with their
American flags and other signs of support for the military. The parade was the largest in the state.
