WHAT!?!?! How uncomfortable, all that material crushed up against my shins!
Yup...I know some people have them hemmed pretty short...Relatively fine when standing but sit down and they'll untuck due to not being enough material...They might as well put a strap that goes around your foot...
Yeah, that sucks, the blousing straps were doing the job just fine. Leave it to the air force to keep changing uniform crap. Yet they still won't do away with the bottom pockets on the ABU shirt, which are totally useless. I don't know one airman who has EVER used the pockets on their BDU/DCU/ABU uniform shirts. Anyone see the prototype service dress uniform? Looks like a Nazi SS uniform to me. Whether it's uniforms, units, bases or office symbols, the air force seems to have an identity crisis ever since I enlisted 17 years ago. Waste of money. Not to mention, the new ABU's are mismatched, you have to make sure the top matches the pants since they are made by different contractors from different batches of material of varying standards. Nice going, and don't even get me started on those awful PT uniforms...shorts that are way too short, shirts that don't stretch, pants and jacket that sound like sandpaper being rubbed together when you walk and way too thick. I know they are in the process of coming out with a new design (surprise), but damn, get it right the first time!
The change that bothers me the most is now allowed to wear black Air Assault badge on BDUs. Make no mention of ABUs or service dress. Considering the BDU is being phased out why not address the ABU?

I'll give you rep for this post! Bottom pockets, yes they're useless, but if we remove them people will say "looks like crap"...The new service jacket? I guess it's a slight improvement over the current sleazy blue jacket...
On our base people have been blousing their pants a bit longer and just bringing the bloused end over the boot. gives the appearance they want without having to tuck it into your boot.
