What's the fix? I have a suggestion.....instead of just letting these guys go, see, they get dozens and dozens of tickets but just rip them up. So, how about arrests and jail time? This is serious and what the heck is the mayor doing about it? Lip service as usual and nothing.

Get a federal grant if you have to, borrow if you have to and install traffic cameras EVERYWHERE and go after these killer clowns behind wheels.

I live in the burbs but drive through the city often, north side, you better be 100 percent alert, ASSUME the driver you see coming from the right in front of you WILL go through that stop sign. He will.

That's no joke. I noticed the same behavior when I returned to the city in September. I also saw a McDonald's with bullet holes all through both drive-thru windows.

A local news station finally took notice:

https://www.tmj4.com/news/project-drive-safer

I used to think everyone there thought that sort of driving behavior was normal.
The police and the city have taken steps to clamp down through tougher enforcement and redesigned streets to encourage better habits.

From a transplant's perspective: it's not just the north side. The craziness exists throughout the whole metro and to some extent just about anywhere in Wisconsin, at least anywhere I've ever been to which is most of the state. Milwaukee is the worst for this though.
I hope they can improve that and the crime because otherwise it's pretty cool.

Whenever i'm up there, i'm always surprised to see all the cars driving around with no plates. Seems like the cops up there just have bigger problems to worry about than enforcing driving laws & vehicle registration.

I think the Milwaukee metro area is still in top 5 in the country for being the mostly highly segregated by race and income. I don't see that changing anytime soon as the WOW counties don't change too much in terms of population growth/demographics, and younger people don't seem as interested in moving out there compared to past decades.

That doesn’t explain the rest of the state’s recklessness though.
It’s pretty bad anywhere you go there. Milwaukee just kicks it into overdrive.

On a recent road trip out of state, I can’t help but be reminded of the STARK difference in driving behaviors once we got away from Wisconsin.
Downright refreshing, and I didn’t want to go back to the land of easily irritable crazies bumping around on streets that haven’t been repaved since the Carter administration.

I will do everything I can to avoid driving in Milwaukee County and especially the city. It's just not worth it anymore.
