Question how hard is it to find an apartment in Milwaukee? In like a week. I am moving there soon and will need a place as I only want to stay with a friend for a week. What kind of things do landlords look for in a tenant? I'm coming from Ohio it's easy to get an apartment here. Alll you need is a down payment and fist months rent.
Also, what would be a good amount of money to have for relocation? This will be my first time relocating and I'm excited but a little hazy about everything.
I'm still searching areas.

Depending on location it's easy to find an apartment in Milwaukee.

I was picky & still able to find everything I was looking for.
Within 2 miles from work
Month to month
Nice apt despite working/living in a bad neighborhood (Timmerman airport area)

It took about a week to find it & then move in. With work I move every 3-6 months so I'm used to the entire process.
Milwaukee was unique in that I called about 15 places & probably only 3-4 answered the phone, the rest you had to leave a message. Likely screening the calls. So be prepared to leave lots of message, & use common sense. You know, don't talk like someone who would trash an apt or can't pay rent. The place also did the most thorough background check on me that I've ever gone through for an apartment. : )

Journal standard classifieds, & craigslist are good places to look. (hope I can post that here)

Thought of one more thing. Do Not let yourself get rushed into taking any apartment. Nothing can ruin your experience with a city more than being stuck in a bad apartment.

Yeah it basically takes the longest to find a landlord you can trust, many landlords will try to push something on you, they suck, some won't get back to you for a few days, that;s another sign you can't trust them. Talk to Terrapak realty, off of Brady street, totally rad, professional, nice places.
