In the case of the few things we have here now;it's too little too late. Maybe if I had never been to places like Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix, or San Francisco I would love my hometown. Hell, maybe if Chicago wasn't so close,I would be a bigger fan of Milwaukee. Hopefully city and county leaders will wake up soon and do more to attract businesses here. That way,we'll have more options as far as entertainment. I mean ABSOLUTELY no disrespect to any Milwaukee lovers. I know how you guys get when people don't see this city like you do.
How can you compare a smaller city like Milwaukee to Chicago or LA? That doesn't make sense. If you use a more fair standard, and compare Milwaukee to similarly sized cities, we do pretty well. I don't understand what people are looking at when they say there aren't things to do here (I assume that's what you mean by options for entertainment).

I'm not really trying to compare Milwaukee to larger cities. I'm just saying that a larger city and everything it has to offer might be more to my liking.

I visited Milwaukee for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was fantastic. The problem was that I only got to spend 3 days there so I saw as much as I could. I spent most of the time at the public market, downtown, driving around other areas, and Club ANything

May I ask you guys what you mean by German influence? To me the city seemed more like the average American city, plus a few German beer places maybe.
This is no Milwaukee-bashing, I love the city and am really curious what the German influence (nowadays) is. Being a native German I might just have missed it because I have an overwhelming German influence in my life anyway.

Well I have not ever actually visited Milwaukee but I have heard it has a bit of a German flavor on account that so many German immigrants settled there during the 1800s.

The Hill Country area(which I have visited)in Texas has strong German influence thanks to sizable German immigration during the mid 1800s.

Loved this thread!
Had the movers come by yesterday to get a quote for my move back this spring.

Yes, the winters are cold and dark.
But after being gone for years, I cannot wait to get back to my people!
I've been in the land of superficial, zero morals, never ending scam peeps far too long.

I am soooo looking forward to moving back.
