I'm looking for any information you can share about any of these school districts (reputation especially). Thank you!

I don't know anything about Wauwatosa schools.

I've heard from friends that most Brookfield schools are quite snobby, but that could be said for the whole city, really.

Waukesha schools are great - especially North and West. I've heard awesome things about them from friends.

I attended Pewaukee High School and graduated about two years ago. It was alright. A lot of emphasis on sports and it was pretty expensive to get into any extracurriculars. Other than that, decent teachers and an ever expanding set of classes. In my senior year they began offering online courses through Northwestern University, which was fantastic. PHS covered all of the costs, I only had to pay for a book. (And that was because I kept it - I had the option of selling it to the school library for a full refund.) They also allow students to take classes at WCTC for college credit, which is really nice.

This is really helpful, mchelle. Thank you.

I've always heard positive things about Brookfield and Pewaukee in terms of academics, but it's also helpful to hear more about their reputation in other areas (snobby, emphasis on athletics etc).

I've heard mixed reviews on Wauwatosa and Waukesha schools. Does anyone else have feedback on any of these districts? I'd appreciate any sort of feedback at all.

Default Brookfield schools

Brookfield schools are considered quite good, one of the better school districts around here, at least in terms of academic rating.

We moved here from Chicago - have to tell you that we are disappointed in the academics when compared to our school district in Chicago. Don't feel that the kids are challenged enough at all - my son say he is bored. On the flip side, however, the extras (music, plays, etc) are very good.

trmpd: Are you in Brookfield? I'm sorry to hear you're disappointed. Are there other districts you can recommend we look into?

yosemite, we were told Brookfield and Mequon are the two good districts, so am not sure what else to tell you. They may be the best around here, but I just happened to have a high bar - we came from one the best school districts in Chicago.

Let me lay some truth on you. Tosa is going down the tubes. Violent Crime is way up. They are lettin more and more undesirables into their schools and they are going down the toilet as a result. Waukesha is getting pretty seedy as well. Waukesha West is still a nice school, but I wouldn't send my dead dog to south. Brookfield and Pewaukee are really nice. As a general rule, the farther from Milwaukee the better, with waukesha as the exception.
The very best schools in the Mke area include Nicolet and Whitefish Bay, just minutes from the "dreaded" City of Milwaukee. The schools in Mequon and Brookfield are good, but not as reputable.

Check out greatschools dot org.

I grew up in Tosa around 94th and Capitol. The hood is starting to eat it on its march west.

Stick to Elmbrook (Brookfield) Pewaukee or New Berlin schools.

Brookfield (Elmbrook school district) was just rated as the top 3rd school district in the nation by Forbes magazine. Germantown was rated #5.

Elmbrook schools are great. Good prep for college-bound students!
