Their main objective this off season should have been a 6'5'' receiver all along. Let's compare Randy's and Sidney's 'breakout' years -

RANDY-
yds 1313
TDs 17
REC 69
LONG 61
FDs 51

SIDNEY-
Yds - 1312
TDS - 8
REC - 83
LONG - 63
FDs - 59

Quite comparable? I guess.. The only difference is that Randy was 21 and was a very highly touted athlete since HS. He initially was supposed to go to Norte Dame, and then to Florida State, but academics and other issues kept him away. Sidney was 23 and in his 3rd NFL season. He also had much more to lose, as if he had 1 more subpar season, last season probably would have been his last in the league.

----but academics and other issues kept him away---

Yup, Randy Moss and them pesky--other issues.

Seems nothing has changed.
How many games as a new Viking before he pouts about ---" not being appreciated" ?

Marmac, this is technically Moss' first team -- he was drafted by the Vikings.

I know he can slack off, but he's still better than 99% of receivers in the NFL. I'll take Randy Moss over Bernard Berrian and Greg Camarillo any day.

How many starters and coaches are still around from when he was here the first time.

About the only familiar face will be Sid Hartman's.

The vikings are desperate and it's just for 13 games. Match made in heaven.

Lets see if he can beat his personal record of 1,632 yards in 2003 now that he will have Favre throwing to him.

Well, I guess it really wasn't academics. It was more NCAA sanctions. Randy Moss got into a fight in High School after one of his friends was called 'N*gger' by a white student. That fight ultimately got him relieved from his full ride, and then he transfered to Florida State, where he tested positve for Marijuana and was released from the team, and ultimately wound up at Marshall in West Virginia.

The Twin Cities' beloved Kevin Garnett got into racially charged fight in High School the only difference is that Garnett went straight to the pros, overshadowing his poor academics and fight that would keep him from attending schools.

Again, I couldn't care less about an athlete's personal life outside of the sport. They are purely entertainment for me. They are not and should not be role models, philatrapists, leaders, or anything else above being an athlete. And for Randy Moss, as the athlete, his numbers have proven his success.

..... and now Moss is gone. What a waste of a draft pick. I hope Brad Childress gets fired VERY soon.

I didn't see this one coming either. I thought Moss had grown up, I guess not.

Same old Randy-he'll never learn. Just retire already and save the football world the hassle.
